The Medical Law Conference is the premier annual event for legal practitioners with a medical law focus.

His Honour Judge LA Levy SC of the NSW District Court will deliver this year's Keynote Address: Civil Liability Legislation and Its Effect on Medical Negligence Claims.

Just because we can save lives, does it mean we should at any expense? Dr Neera Bhatia, Lecturer in Law at Deakin University discusses some of the potential legal and ethical issues as well as parental and medical practitioner conflict in end of life decision making for extremely premature infants.

Medical tourism is big business, but what if something goes wrong in the course of having a medical procedure overseas? Victoria Gallanders, Associate at Stacks Goudkamp, is going to take us through this legal cross-jurisdictional maze.

Assoc. Professor Carolyn Quadrio is a psychiatrist with a special interest in the treatment of sexual abuse victims. Given the prevalence of sexual abuse, we may encounter clients who have been abused. For some, being the recipient of medical negligence is a kind of abuse and may effect the mental health our clients, and indeed their claim. Dr Quadrio will discuss this connection.
