Precedent
Free to members, our bi-monthly journal Precedent is essential reading for lawyers and other professionals keen to keep up to date with developments in legal policy and the law. Precedent is a 52-page, full-colour magazine packed with cutting edge articles and case notes. Alongside its strong focus on personal injury law, and tort law more generally, the journal covers civil liberties, administrative law, industrial, immigration and criminal law. Each edition balances practical and academic content. Consistently rated by members as the most valuable benefit of membership, the magazine also contains details on all Australian Lawyers Alliance events, conferences and policy and lobbying initiatives.

Precedent is now being produced in a more environmentally friendly manner.
We are now printing on 'Revive silk', a part-recycled Australian-made paper with an ISO 1401 Environmental Accreditation. The paper contains 35% locally sourced waste, which is made up of 15% post-consumer waste and 20% pre-consumer waste. It contains an additional 20% mill broke. It is chlorine free. 92% of the energy used to produce the stock is sourced from renewable hydro-electric and wind farm power.
We have dispensed with the petrochemical seal on the cover and no longer shrink-wrap copies of Precedent in order to deliver them to Australian Lawyers Alliance members and subscribers. We are now using part-recycled Australian-made envelopes.
The Australian Lawyers Alliance is taking steps across the board to reduce the environmental impact of its activities. By making Precedent more environmentally sustainable, we are taking a leading role in the legal publishing industry.
