E-mobility safety and use in Queensland

17 June 2025

The ALA has recently made a submission to Queensland Parliament's State Development, Infrastructure and Works Committee ('Committee') as part of the Committee's inquiry into e-mobility safety and use in Queensland

In our submission, we have addressed:

  • the benefits of e-mobility devices;
  • safety issues and data collection arising from incidents, injuries and fatalities involving e-mobility devices in Queensland;
  • opportunities to educate the public about the safety and responsible use of e-mobility devices;
  • insurance considerations; and
  • enforcement opportunities.

The Queensland Government has published its response to the Committees February 2026 full report for the Inquiry into e-mobility safety and use in Queensland, outlining a mix of support for these recommendations and issues identified for further consideration.

In their report, the Committee made 28 recommendations directed to improving safety, enforcement, infrastructure, device regulation and broader oversight of e-mobility use in Queensland.
