Inquiry into the Aviation Consumer Protection Bill 2026 and three related bills

29 April 2026

The ALA has made a submission to the Inquiry into the Aviation Consumer Protection Bill 2026 and related bills, in which it emphasised the importance of a fair, accessible and transparent scheme for people injured in transport accidents and cautions against integrity or fraud concerns being used in a way that undermines the rights of legitimate claimants.

The ALA appeared before the The Senate Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport Legislation Committee (Committee) at the public hearing in Canberra on 29 May 2026.

The Committee has published its report into the Aviation Consumer Protection Bill 2026 and three related bills, and have recommended the Bill’s passage.

The Government will now consider the Committee's recommendations as the legislation progresses through Parliament.
