Catastrophic injuries: perspectives from the experts

Join us on Thursday 13 September 2018 from 5:00pm at The Old Woolstore Apartment Hotel for an evening with experts who will share their experiences and knowledge of catastrophic injury claims.

Hear Neurosurgeon Professor Peter Teddy’s discussion of the management and outcomes of spinal cord injuries, including spinal cauda equine syndrome, and the current trends in the field.

Ms Laura Kagan will present on the role of an Occupational Therapist in the provision of expert witness reports, drawing on her extensive experience in acquired brain injuries and multi trauma orthopaedic injuries.

Director of Vincents, Mr Mariano Rossetto, Forensic Accountant, will present on how to add value through proper quantification of care and future needs, and will discuss the issues and benefits that surround joint conclave reports and hot tubbing.

Seminar attendees are invited to attend this event at no cost, and can earn up to 1.5 CLE points. Drinks and nibbles provided.


Professor Peter Teddy (DPhil, FRACS, FFPMANZCA) has public appointments as a Neurosurgeon at The Royal Melbourne Hospital, Western Hospital, and Northern Hospital. He also consults and operates at Linacre Private Hospital.

He is Professorial Fellow in Neurosurgery in the Department of Surgery at Melbourne University. Aside from general neurosurgical practice, he fulfils an active role in teaching undergraduates and neurosurgical trainees and is Supervisor of Training for the Faculty of Pain Medicine in the College of Anaesthetists.

He is also a member of the Editorial Committee for The Journal of Clinical Neuroscience. Professor Teddy is a world authority on the neurosurgical treatment of pain, including facial pain and headaches, spinal problems and neuropathic pain.

Laura Kagan has a Bachelor of Psychological Science and a Master of Occupational Therapy Practice. Laura has a special interest and extensive experience in a range of assessment, treatment and consultancy services for TAC, VWA and privately-funded clients.

Her medico legal reports have gained a reputation for being accurate, high-quality and are delivered in a timely manner. Through many years of diverse clinical experience, Laura has developed a particular interest in Acquired Brain Injury, Multi Trauma Orthopaedics and Mental Health and Wellbeing.

Mariano Rossetto is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants in Australia & NZ and a Registered Tax Agent. He first started working as an accountant in 1985 in the area of accounting, taxation and audit. He has some 32 years of experience in the area of Forensic Accounting. His experience in the area of forensic accounting include areas such as:
