Assoc Prof
Gavin Beccaria,
University of Southern Queensland

Associate Professor Gavin Beccaria is an academic in the School of Psychology and Counselling at the University of Southern Queensland and a practicing clinical psychologist with over 25 years experience. Gavin has extensive supervision and teaching experience with psychology students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and he has provided clinical supervision for over 400 psychologists and psychologists in training. He also runs a private practice in clinical psychology.

Gavin has taught at USQ for over 13 years, he was the coordinator of the Clinical Psychology Program from 2014 – 2018, and Toowoomba Psychology Masters Program Lead from 2019. He was successful for an Early Career Teaching Award in 2011.

Gavin has written book chapters on mental health assessment, diagnosis and disorders. He has also published in a wide range of topics including metal health, domestic violence, learning and teaching, work and career, clinical assessment, natural therapies, and Indigenous mental health in leading journals. He has been an Associate Investigator on two National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) grants and a Chief Investigator in one NHMRC grant part of a research team investigating assessment and treatment of mental health among Indigenous Australians.

Prior to moving to academia in 2007, Gavin was the Director of Psychology in Toowoomba Health Service and managed 35 psychologists. Gavin is married to Dr Lisa Beccaria, a Senior Lecturer in Nursing at USQ and they have two adult children.

Paul Cott
Law On Lydiard, Adjunct Lecturer at The College of Law and Podcast Presenter - Lydiard Law in Victoria

Paul Cott graduated from Law at Deakin University in Geelong in Victoria in 2006.

Paul has worked at a number of different firms as an employee over the 14 years or so that he has been in practice, and now he is in his own practice in regional Victoria, Ballarat and loving it. His firm name is Law on Lydiard. He is the Principal Lawyer at that practice. This practice is an advisor both to individuals and businesses in Ballarat and beyond, and he has built up a great network of business connections in Melbourne and Ballarat.

The main work he does is employment law, civil litigation of all types, domestic building disputes and building law advice, and Wills, estates and probate

Paul is also an adjunct lecturer for the College of Law in Victoria where he assesses and mentors students at the very end of the process for gaining admission to practice law. He is about to be appointed there to an additional position known as a In Practice Component Mentor.

He has also launched a podcast by the name of Lydiard Law which gives non lawyers tips and tricks for their most common legal issues and questions. The podcast has been operating since August 2019.

He volunteers his time at a local community legal centre, to give back to the community where he lives.

He also contributes articles to the engineering, property, architecture and building industry news analysis site Sourceable and is a regular contributor to the quarterly Building Connection magazine which is focused towards small businesses in the building and construction industry.
