Overview
Our second criminal justice webinar, presented in conjunction with the Centre for Innovative Justice and the Justice Reform Initiative, will continue to focus on the need for new approaches to criminal justice.
Hosted by the ALA’s criminal justice spokesperson, Greg Barns SC the webinar will feature:
- Debbie Kilroy, Founder, Sisters Inside, discussing women in prison and the case for alternative sentencing;
- Sarah Hopkins, Chair, Just Reinvest NSW, outlining the success of the Maranguka Justice Reinvestment Project in Bourke NSW; and
- Shaun Braybook, General Manager, Wulgunggo Ngalu Learning Place, proposing alternatives to prison for short-term sentences.
There will be time for questions from the audience.
This webinar is the second in a three part series designed to critically examine the criminal justice system and stimulate conversation about smarter justice options and alternate approaches.
