Overview

10 Essential things you need to know in order to be able to give your clients the right advice from both new and existing clients.

Thanks to the efforts of many, including the Australian Lawyers Alliance, the limitation periods for actions for child sexual abuse have now been lifted.

With these new changes will come new claims, from both new and existing clients.

It is essential that legal practitioners, in all practice areas, should be equipped with a clear understanding of what these reforms mean, as survivors of abuse will be walking through the doors of your firms and chambers expecting accurate and relevant legal advice in relation to possible claims. Inaccurate or outdated advice will have injurious consequences for both practitioners and clients.

The ALA Institutional Abuse Seminar will equip you with the 10 essential things you need to know in order to be able to give your clients the right advice when they walk through the door. Experts in the field, who will be presenting at the seminar include:

  • Michelle James
Principal and National Head of of Institutional Abuse, Maurice Blackburn
  • Leanne McDonald
    Principal, Shine Lawyers
  • Gerard Mullins
    Barrister, Darrow Chambers
  • Gavan Pulk
    Psychologist and Barrister, Griffith University
