Overview
The Supreme Court (Chapter I Costs Amendment) Rules 2024 have recently been published, and come into effect on 1 January 2025.
The ALA has secured Judicial Registrar Conidi for a snap webinar to discuss the changes, and their implications for plaintiff lawyers.
JR Conidi was an inaugural Costs Registrar of the Costs Court and is a member of the working group which formulated the new scale of costs, currently co-chaired the Hon Justice Andrea Tsalamandris and the Hon Kathryn Kings.

Speakers
Judicial Registrar Conidi was an inaugural Costs Registrar of the Costs Court which was established in 2010. He was appointed a Judicial Registrar in July 2021. Prior to transitioning to the costs jurisdiction, JR Conidi practised in the area of criminal law for approximately 17 years including as a solicitor/advocate with Northern Territory legal aid services (Darwin and Alice Springs), a Divisional Manager of the Criminal Law Division at Victoria Legal Aid and a member of the Victorian Bar. He also spent two years as a part time member of the Social Security Appeals Tribunal.
Judicial Registrar Conidi is a member of the working group, currently co-chaired the Hon Justice Andrea Tsalamandris and her Honour Kathryn Kings, which formulated the new scale of costs arising from the recommendations of the Litigious Costs review and due to commence on 1 January 2025.
