Victoria Conference - in person 2021

Registration is open for the ALA’s Victoria Conference, the state’s longest-running CPD event for plaintiff lawyers.

Over two days, expert presenters will discuss and analyse current issues in personal injury law, providing you with information that will contribute to your professional development. Up to 8 CPD points can be claimed.

The Conference will be divided into two concurrent streams, with sessions covering common law, gender equality, the assessment of damages, wellbeing in the workforce, and the all-important TAC, workers' compensation and case review panels.

There will be a number of networking and social events, including the Welcome Reception and Conference Dinner, where you’ll have the opportunity to take advantage of the modern facilities and picturesque surroundings of the RACV Cape Schanck Resort.

This event will follow all COVID-19 safety protocols.

Registration Inclusions

Social Events

The Welcome Reception will be held on Thursday 19 August from 6:00- 7:30pm at RACV Cape Schanck. Guests will be provided with canapés and beverages for 1.5 hours.

Admission is included with conference registration.

The conference dinner will be held at RACV Cape Schanck from Friday 20 August from 7:00pm, be prepared an evening of spectacular food, beverages and entertainment.

Please note that due to limited covid safe capacity, no guest tickets can be purchased for the social events.

The Australian Lawyers Alliance (ALA) have arranged discounted accommodation at RACV Cape Schanck Resort for Conference attendees.

There are two accommodation types. When booking online please select the correct room type as they have different prices.

All prices include one breakfast — if two people will be occupying the room you will need to add an additional breakfast to your registration to claim the discounted rate.

To obtain the discounted rate during the conference, please secure your accommodation through registering online.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

BREAKFAST

$25.00 per person when pre-purchased through the ALA (otherwise you will be charged $31.00 upon check-out).
Breakfast is located in the main building at Cape Restaurant.

ACCOMMODATION

No penalty will apply for accommodation cancellations prior to 23 April 2021.

The ALA will endeavour to sell the cancelled accommodation to another delegate. If we are unable to, the delegate wishing to cancel accommodation will be subject to 100% of the accommodate rate.

No-shows are subject to 100% of the accommodation rate.

If you require a twin room, please specify during registration and email Events@lawyersalliance.com.au.

If sharing a room with someone (other than a partner), please state their name under 'share with' option when completing the registration. Please ensure that one of the delegates secures, and pays for the accommodation.

Upon check-in, a credit card will be required and a $100 bond per night will be held on the card. Delegates to settle their own account according to the hotel terms and conditions.

Cancellations received before 23/04/21 will be refunded in full. NO REFUNDS WILL BE MADE AFTER As all costs will be pre-paid to service providers, these cancellation conditions apply to all registration, accommodation and social event payments. Changes are subject to availability. Substitutions are allowed up to 48 hours prior to the commencement of the conference and all requests must be made in writing.If there is a covid outbreak and the Victoria Government announce that events of 150+ attendees are not allowed, the ALA will provide access to the virtual conference.

All payments for registration, accommodation, activities and any applicable membership fees must be made prior to the commencement of the conference. We reserve the right to cancel some or all of your booking if payment is not received. Accommodation payments, cancellations and changes are subject to the requirements of the hotel and its arrangements with the Australian Lawyers Alliance in relation to room guarantees. Accommodation charges are include one breakfast. Delegates are responsible for all incidental charges payable to the hotel on departure. In the case of a 'no show', all payments due for registration, social events, accommodation or any associated fees will still need to be settled by the registrant after the event.

The Australian Lawyers Alliance reserves the right to alter any published program. The right is reserved to cancel or change itineraries or substitute services without notice. In most instances, comprehensive papers are provided by the speakers, however, the Australian Lawyers Alliance is unable to take responsibility for papers not provided.
