ALA to discuss Qld premier at risk of losing his seat

17th Oct 2013

MEDIA ALERT:

Australian Lawyers Alliance spokesman Rod Hodgson will be speaking on new polling that shows the Premier is at risk of losing the seat of Ashgrove as a result of the State Government’s proposed changes to Queensland’s WorkCover scheme today (Thursday) morning at Parliament House.

Mr Hodgson will be joined by Michael and Carly Lorenz and their family.

Michael Lorenz was injured in an unsafe workplace in 2012, resulting in a serious knee injury that was assessed as a 2.5% work-related impairment.

He is no longer able to work in his job as a labourer, despite having a young family to support.

People like Michael are among the many thousands of Queenslanders who stand to be disadvantaged by the State Government’s proposal to introduce a 5% threshold for access to common law damages if the State Government’s proposed changes to WorkCover are passed in their current form.
