NSW president Joshua Dale receives Member of the Year Award

10th Mar 2022

The current Australian Lawyers Alliance’s (ALA) NSW state president, Joshua Dale, has been recognised as the organisation’s member of the year for 2021.

“Josh has done outstanding work in his first year as NSW President,” said Mr Graham Droppert SC, National President, ALA. “It has been a challenging first year for his Presidency given the COVID-19 pandemic and significant changes to the management of personal injury claims in NSW with the introduction of the new Personal Injury Commission.

“Despite this, he has worked tirelessly to advocate for justice and the rights of individuals.”

Mr Dale is a partner at Carroll & O’Dea Lawyers in Sydney and was the NSW committee secretary from 2017 to 2020. He took on the role of state president in July 2020.

“Josh is hands on in his work as President,” said Mr Droppert SC.  “He represents the ALA at regular stakeholder meetings and raises difficult issues on behalf of members where most other stakeholders remain silent.

“Josh is committed to promoting access to justice and equality before the law for everyone and he is a wonderful example of how one person can make a real difference. Josh devotes hours to his work for the ALA and this is a completely voluntary role.

“I am pleased to be able to thank him and acknowledge his efforts with this Award.”

The ALA awarded two members with Member of the Year for 2021. The other award winner is Queensland lawyers and long-term leader in the ALA, Rodney Hodgson.
