Emerging Lawyer of the Year Award

The Emerging Lawyer of the Year Award is awarded to an individual who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in the legal profession to date.

The Award recognises an individual's dedication to social justice and is awarded to an individual within their first three years of practice that is seen as a future leader in the profession.

The candidate’s contribution to advocacy and furthering justice must be significant.

The candidate may have demonstrated any or all of the following:

  • Outstanding work over the past 12 months in a manner that sets them apart from other lawyers of similar experience;
  • Outstanding and demonstrated professionalism, passion and dedication to social justice and the fulfilment of human rights;
  • Involvement in pro bono work, societies, volunteering or community work, especially in the last 12 months;
  • Active participation in law reform and lobbying, and/or commitment to advocacy via the media.

The Award is presented annually at our National Conference in October.
