Victoria, the education state of Australia, will host this year’s highly anticipated National Conference in Melbourne.

Join us at the premier event for lawyers, academics and other professionals who are dedicated to protecting and promoting justice, freedom and the rights of the individual.

Over the course of two days our expert presenters from across Australia will discuss, analyse and give their perspectives on current national legal issues. You will gain access to information that contributes to your professional development, and will be challenged to think ahead and be inspired.

Social Events

President's Welcome Reception

This function will be held on Thursday 18 October from 6:30pm at Sealife Melbourne Aquarium. Guests will be provided with canapés and beverages for 1.5 hours.

The visually stunning Fish Bowl at Sealife Melbourne Aquarium is only a short, 10 minute walk from Crown Promenade. Conference attendees and guests will be treated to an underwater world of wonder as they build their professional network while surrounded by hundreds of fish, great and small. This is sure to be a memorable event.

Admission is included with conference registration.

Conference Dinner

This event will be held at the River Room at Crown Promenade from 7:00pm, be prepared an evening of spectacular food, beverages and entertainment. The River room has a stylish balcony overlooking the Melbourne Skyline and Crown's signature flame towers.

The Baker Boys Band will be the evening's entertainment and are sure to get everyone onto the dance floor.

Awards

Civil Justice Award

Each year the ALA presents a National Civil Justice Award to a deserving recipient in accordance with the outlined criteria.

The Award provides a platform of recognition to an individual who has fought for justice. The Award generates significant media attention and provides additional opportunities for the recipient to raise further awareness about the issues for which they have fought, both within the legal fraternity and with the wider public.

Member of the Year Award

The Donoghue v Stevenson Award for Outstanding Contribution to the ALA is awarded annually at the National Conference. It is for members whose efforts have been pivotal to the ongoing success of the ALA in its role of protecting and promoting justice, freedom and the rights of the individual.

Terms and Conditions

No penalty will apply for accommodation cancellations prior to 14 September 2018.

The ALA will endeavour to sell the cancelled accommodation to another delegate. If we are unable to, the delegate wishing to cancel accommodation will be subject to 100% of the accommodate rate.

No shows are subject to 100% of the accommodate rate.

Notes

Majority of accommodation are king bed configuration. If you require a twin room please specify during registration and email conferences@lawyersalliance.com.au.

If sharing a room with someone (other than a partner), please state their name under 'share with' option when completing the registration. Please ensure that one of the delegates secure, and pays for accommodation.

Upon check in, a credit card will be required and a $100 bond per night will be held on the card. Delegates will settle their account according to the hotel terms and conditions.
