Return to work and the police – a positive reform

The Australian Lawyers Alliance welcomes the partial restoration of rights to ongoing income support and medical expenses for police officers who are injured in the line of duty and who have not been able to return to work within two years of their injury.

“This is an acknowledgement of the shortcomings of the Return To Work Act 2014,” said Australian Lawyers Alliance SA President Patrick Boylen.

“This positive reform of the workers compensation scheme should, as a matter of fairness and equity, now be extended to all who are injured at work regardless of occupation or how the injury occurred.”
