OVERVIEW

Celebrating 21 years this year, the ALA National Conference will be held at the iconic Wrest Point, located on Hobart's waterfront precinct of Sandy Bay with breathtaking views of the Derwent River and Mount Wellington. It is the premier annual event for lawyers, barristers and associated professionals with a social justice focus.

This year's program will be headlined by Tasmania's first female Governor, Her Excellency Prof. The Hon Kate Warner AM.
Supreme Court Justice Stephen Estcourt will provide his views on the accessibility of the Australian justice system.

Other program highlights include:

  • Former NSW District Court judge Margaret Sidis reflects on Lawyer's rights.
  • You'll hear up-to-date commentary on motor vehicle law and work cover schemes from around the country in a panel discussion
  • The state of play of discrimination actions in the Federal court
  • Updates on NDIS, NIIS and Comcare
  • Ergonomist and engineer Ted Dohrmann will provide insight into identifying liability in stair accidents.
  • Enduring Power of Attorney - What are you really signing up for?
  • The year that's been in Law Reform and much more!

The conference provides an excellent opportunity for practitioners to keep up to date on the latest developments in personal injuries law, to network and socialise in a relaxed environment and earn up to 10 CLE points.
