ALA joins NSW CTP Taskforce

7th Mar 2016

The Australian Lawyers Alliance has been invited to participate in the establishment of a New South Wales Comprehensive Third Party (CTP) Taskforce, to investigate aberrant claim behaviour and an unusual increase in personal injury claims in the CTP Scheme.

The behaviour appears associated with a number of smaller legal practices and not established legal service providers, who continue to provide valuable support, access to justice and representation for the injured.

Conscious of the issues confronting the Taskforce, the ALA condemns fraud on all levels and looks forward to joining with other industry stakeholders to collaborate, address and resolve this issue.

The ALA commends the State Insurance Regulatory Authority for the establishment of the Taskforce and remains committed to the ongoing education of its members and peer to deter fraud and preserve a CTP scheme which continues to support the needs of the injured.
