Justice and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2023

QUEENSLAND
The ALA has made a submission to the Queensland Parliament’s Legal Affairs and Safety Committee regarding the Justice and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2023 (‘the Bill’). Overall, the ALA considers the amendments proposed in the Bill to be valuable and sensible, with our submission focusing on:
- amendments to the Justices of the Peace and Commissioners for Declarations Act 1991 (Qld), the Oaths Act 1867 (Qld) and to the Legal Profession Act 2007 (Qld); and
- protocols to consider what is fair and reasonable when considering setting aside cost agreements.
The Legal Affairs and Safety Committee is due to table its report on Friday, 28 July 2023.
